Shell Lounge Chair

This lounge chair was designed by Danish architect Ib Kofod-Larsen in 1953. The design features a curved plywood shell forming the backrest and integrated armrests, paired with a matching seat cushion. This edition is constructed with a black lacquered wooden frame and tapered legs. The chair has been reupholstered in Yoredale fabric by Camira. Beneath the seat, the wood retains its original retail label from Knefkens, a mid-century modern furniture dealership operating in Heerlen and Gulpen, the Netherlands, during the 1950s and 1960s. This label establishes the chair's regional provenance and distribution history.
